📍Beijing / Middle East | Media Report
China has reaffirmed its commitment to playing a “constructive role” in Middle East diplomacy, positioning itself as a key stabilizing force amid ongoing tensions in the region.

The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs made this known on Wednesday, emphasizing Beijing’s intention to sustain diplomatic engagement as a fragile two-week ceasefire between the United States and Iran remains in place.

Diplomatic Push for Peace
Speaking in Beijing, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning disclosed that China has ramped up high-level diplomatic efforts in recent weeks.

According to her, Foreign Minister Wang Yi has held more than two dozen consultations with both regional and global leaders, with a strong focus on achieving a political resolution rather than military escalation.

“China’s position remains consistent. We stand for peace and the rule of international law,” Mao said, stressing that dialogue remains the best path to lasting stability.

China’s Five-Point Strategy
At the center of China’s approach is a joint initiative with Pakistan aimed at strengthening stability in the Gulf region.

The framework outlines five key priorities:
1. Cessation of Hostilities: Transitioning temporary ceasefires into lasting peace agreements
2. Respect for Sovereignty: Upholding the territorial integrity of all nations in the region
Humanitarian Access: Ensuring the smooth delivery of aid to affected populations
3. Dialogue-Driven Solutions: Promoting negotiations in neutral environments
4. Inclusive Security Framework: Building a regional security system involving all key stakeholders
5. Growing Influence in the Region
Analysts say China’s renewed diplomatic push reflects its evolving role in global conflict resolution.

Following its successful mediation of the Saudi-Iran rapprochement in 2023, Beijing is increasingly presenting itself as an alternative to Western-led security frameworks.

Upcoming negotiations expected to take place in Pakistan are being closely watched as a test of this collaborative model.

China’s broader strategy appears to center on promoting a “Middle East for Middle Easterners” approach encouraging regional ownership of security while limiting external military involvement.

Outlook
Despite the current ceasefire between the United States and Iran, tensions remain high. However, China says it will continue its “intensive mediation” efforts, leveraging its diplomatic and economic influence to maintain dialogue among all parties.

The Foreign Ministry also reaffirmed its support for the rights of the Palestinian people and the security concerns of Gulf nations, as part of its wider commitment to global peace and stability.
