Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have sustained high-tempo offensive operations against Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists across Borno State, recording significant operational successes through coordinated clearance missions, fighting patrols and blocking operations.

The sustained military pressure has led to the neutralisation of terrorists, destruction of key enclaves and the surrender of fleeing fighters.
In a statement issued by the Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, said troops operating under Operation DESERT SANITY V on January 10, 2026, intensified operations along the Azir–Wajiroko axis, forcing 11 terrorists to surrender.

The surrendered fighters laid down their arms, including AK-47 rifles and assorted ammunition, as a result of overwhelming military pressure.
Earlier, on January 9, 2026, OPHK troops conducted extensive clearance operations in the Bulaagalda cluster, where several active terrorist camps and enclaves were destroyed at Dagumba, Bonne, Yaganari, Gosuri and Umchile. Among the dismantled locations were the notorious Abu Nazir and Abu Ahmed camps.

During the operations, troops dismantled terrorist life-support structures, degraded logistics networks and recovered several items, including terrorist flags, weapons and magazines.

Further offensive actions in the Yale and Bula Gaida areas forced terrorists to flee, leading to the destruction of additional logistics facilities and the recovery of arms, ammunition and a general-purpose machine gun.

In a separate intelligence-led operation, troops engaged JAS/ISWAP elements between Sojiri and Kayamla villages, neutralising eight terrorists and recovering AK-47 rifles.
Additionally, two suspected terrorist logistics collaborators were arrested in Gubio Local Government Area for allegedly supplying logistics to terrorist elements.

The military reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining offensive operations, dismantling remaining terrorist networks and restoring lasting peace and security across the North East region.
