The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has provided clear details regarding the diversion of one of its C-130 aircraft during a ferry flight to Portugal for scheduled maintenance on 8 December 2025.
This was contained in a statement E-signed Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame Director of Public Relations and Information Nigerian Air Force Headquarters on 9 December 2025
According to the official statement, the aircraft departed Lagos but soon after takeoff, the flight crew detected a technical issue that required immediate attention. In strict adherence to global aviation safety standards and established NAF procedures, the pilots executed a precautionary landing at the nearest suitable airfield Bobo-Dioulasso in Burkina Faso.
NAF confirmed that all crew members are safe and have been warmly received by Burkina Faso authorities, who offered full cooperation and support upon arrival.
The Air Force further disclosed that arrangements are already underway to ensure the mission continues as planned once all necessary assessments are completed.
“The Nigerian Air Force appreciates the support received during this period and reassures the public of its unwavering professionalism, commitment to safety, and strict adherence to operational protocols,” the statement added.
