The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has applauded the courage, professionalism, and swift decision-making of its Alpha Jet pilots who safely ejected after encountering an in-flight emergency during a post-inspection functional check flight on Saturday, 6 December 2025, at the NAF Base in Kainji.

According to official reports, the aircraft experienced a critical malfunction shortly after take-off. Demonstrating remarkable composure and adherence to safety protocols, the pilots expertly steered the jet away from populated areas before carrying out a controlled ejection. Both pilots were recovered safely and are currently undergoing routine medical examinations.
The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, commended the pilots for their bravery, discipline, and sound judgement, noting that their actions averted potential casualties and property damage. He has ordered the immediate establishment of a Board of Inquiry to determine the cause of the incident.
The Nigerian Air Force assures the public of its continuous commitment to maintaining the highest safety standards and operational efficiency. The service remains steadfast in its constitutional mandate to safeguard the nation, protect its personnel, and defend the lives and property of all citizens.
