Nigeria is set to take its oil and gas investment opportunities to China as a delegation of industry executives, project developers and subnational investment representatives prepares to participate in the 19th China (Dongying) International Petroleum and Petrochemical Equipment and Technology Exhibition (CDYPE 2026).

The three-day exhibition will hold from September 28 to 30, 2026, in Dongying, Shandong Province, China, bringing together energy companies, engineering firms, financiers, investors and technology providers.

The Nigerian delegation is expected to use the platform to engage Chinese investors and companies on opportunities across Nigeria’s oil, gas and energy sectors.

Dongying is a major petroleum equipment and energy industry hub in China. The city is home to the Shengli Oilfield and has developed an industrial ecosystem covering oil production, refining, petroleum equipment manufacturing and logistics.

Organisers said more than 500 industrial exhibitors and about 20,000 international delegates are expected at the exhibition.

Representatives of major Chinese energy companies, including Sinopec, China National Petroleum Corporation, CNOOC and PipeChina, are also expected to participate.

The Nigerian mission is being organised by Oraso Consulting Ltd in collaboration with the Nigeria China Strategic Partnership, the Embassy of Nigeria in China and the CDYPE Organising Committee.

Iron Capital Partners Ltd has been appointed Lead Financial and Advisory Partner for the mission.

The firm will provide support on project bankability, subnational credit rating advisory, payment security mechanisms and public-private partnership structuring.

Nigeria Country Focused Session

A major component of the programme will be the Nigeria Country Focused Session, where Nigerian project owners are expected to present investment opportunities directly to Chinese capital providers, engineering companies and energy technology firms.

Discussions are expected to focus on gas monetisation and midstream development, including mini-LNG plants, CNG distribution networks, LPG facilities and gas-to-power projects.

The programme will also cover modular refining and petrochemicals, upstream asset development, oilfield services, drilling technology and deepwater infrastructure.

Subnational governments are expected to showcase opportunities involving special economic zones, industrial parks, ports and logistics facilities.

Organisers said private business-to-business and government-to-business meetings would be arranged following the country-focused session to facilitate direct discussions between Nigerian project owners and their Chinese counterparts.

The meetings are expected to provide a platform for potential investors, project developers and technology providers to examine specific projects and identify areas for collaboration.

According to the organisers, follow-up activities will include technical due diligence, term-sheet development and commercial negotiations, with the aim of moving viable projects towards execution.

The China exhibition therefore provides a platform for Nigerian stakeholders to present specific energy and infrastructure projects while seeking financing, technology partnerships and investment opportunities from Chinese companies and institutions.
