Renowned Nigerian actress, evangelist, and television personality Elizabeth ‘Liz’ Benson-Ameye is celebrating her 59th birthday today, April 5, 2025.
Born in Etinan, Akwa Ibom State, in 1966, Liz Benson remains one of the most iconic faces in Nollywood history. She began acting at the tender age of five, and later pursued a degree in Dramatic Arts at Sylvania State College in the United States.
Beyond her acting career, Liz has lived a life marked by resilience and purpose. She was widowed in her mid-twenties following the death of her first husband, Samuel Gabriel Etim. In interviews, she has spoken about how his strength of character helped her navigate the difficult season while raising their children.
In 2009, Liz Benson found love again and tied the knot with Bishop Great Ameye in a quiet court ceremony in Abuja, followed by a church blessing at the Rainbow Christian Assembly in Warri, Delta State. Together, the couple now runs a thriving ministry known as Freedom Family Assembly, based in Jesse Town, Delta State.
