BORNO STATE, JULY 1, 2025 — In a major success against terrorism in the North East, troops of the Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI, have neutralized ten Boko Haram/ISWAP insurgents and recovered a significant cache of arms and ammunition during a coordinated offensive in the Manawaji axis, near the Nigeria–Cameroon border.
This was contained in a statement signed on 1st July 2025 by Captain Reuben Kovangiya Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations Headquarters, Theatre Command Operation HADIN KAI
According to the statement, the operation, which targeted terrorist hideouts between Rann and Gamboru Ngala in Borno State’s southern Lake Chad region, was part of intensified efforts to flush out remnants of terrorist elements destabilizing the area.
According to military authorities, troops made contact with the terrorists during a clearance operation. Following a fierce gun battle, the highly motivated and combat-ready soldiers eliminated ten insurgents believed to have been involved in recent attacks and criminal activities along the border communities.

A large cache of arms and ammunition, including anti-aircraft rounds suspected to have been looted from a previous attack on Cameroonian defence forces, was also recovered at the scene.
The Theatre Command hailed the troops for their bravery and resilience, reiterating the military’s resolve to sustain the offensive in line with the directives of the Chief of Defence Staff. The Command emphasized that the operation aims to completely deny terrorists any freedom of action and restore lasting peace to the entire North East region.
