
Operation Safe Haven Strikes Bandit Hideout in Qua’an Pan, Plateau State

Troops of the 3 Division/Operation SAFE HAVEN, in a well-coordinated intelligence-driven operation, neutralized two bandits during a raid on a suspected hideout at Teng Mountain/Forest in Qua’an Pan Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau State. The operation, carried out on May 12, 2025, was part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal strongholds in the region.
Swift and Decisive Action
According to a statement released by Major Samson Zhakom, the Media Information Officer for Operation SAFE HAVEN, troops launched the raid following credible intelligence on the presence of bandits in the area. Upon reaching the hideout, the soldiers engaged the criminals, overpowering them with superior firepower.
The successful operation led to the recovery of:
- One AK-47 rifle
- One AK-47 magazine
- One fabricated rifle capable of firing 7.62mm (Special) ammunition
- Seven rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition
- Four mobile phones
- Two motorcycles
- Cash amounting to ₦157,900
The recovered arms and ammunition are currently in military custody, while the mobile phones are undergoing forensic examination to trace other members of the criminal network.
Sustaining the Momentum Against Criminals
Major Zhakom assured the public that Operation SAFE HAVEN remains committed to eliminating threats posed by criminal elements. He emphasized that the offensive against bandits and other miscreants would be sustained, promising that troops would continue to secure communities and restore peace in the region.
“The activities of these dangerous criminals will continually be met with stiff resistance from our troops, who are determined to maintain offensive operations and ensure safety across Plateau State,” Major Zhakom stated.
Reaffirming Public Confidence
Operation SAFE HAVEN urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security forces by providing timely information that could aid further operations. The military reassured citizens that efforts are ongoing to track and arrest fleeing members of the criminal syndicate, with a firm resolve to bring them to justice.
