Troops of Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH), currently engaged in Operation LAFIYAN JAMA’A, have successfully repelled coordinated militia attacks on several communities in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The attempted attacks, which occurred on April 2, 2025, targeted the villages of Tamiso, Daffo, Manguna, Taddai, and Hurti. According to OPSH Media Information Officer, Major Samson Nantip Zhakom, troops swiftly responded, engaged the attackers, and forced them to retreat, abandoning an AK-47 rifle and six motorcycles in the process. Traces of blood were found along the criminals’ escape route, suggesting possible casualties among the assailants.
Following this, on April 3, 2025, troops conducted a clearance operation in Hurti community after observing militia activity in the surrounding mountainous terrain. During the operation, the troops engaged the armed elements with intense firepower, compelling them to flee. A subsequent search of the area led to the recovery of one locally fabricated pistol, six rounds of 9mm ammunition, and four additional motorcycles.
Troops have since maintained a strong presence in the area to track and neutralize fleeing criminals.
In a related development, on the same day, troops from the Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Gashish carried out offensive operations in Barkin Ladi LGA, targeting criminal hideouts at Dome Hill, Rahul Mazat, and Anguwa Mamuda. Acting on credible intelligence, the troops searched the locations and recovered one locally made revolver rifle, a round of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition, and cash totaling ₦89,800. However, the suspects fled before the troops arrived.
Elsewhere, troops from Sector 2 OPSH, in collaboration with local vigilantes, also conducted offensive operations along the Kampani Zurak road in Wase LGA, following credible intelligence on the movement of bandits in the area. One bandit was neutralised during the engagement, while an AK-47 rifle magazine, a motorcycle, and other items were recovered. Troops are currently in pursuit of the fleeing gang members.
Operation SAFE HAVEN reiterated its commitment to disrupting the activities of non-state actors and ensuring the safety of law-abiding citizens across its Joint Operations Area.
