The Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is in mourning following the death of its Publicity Secretary, Tunde Oladunjoye, who passed away in the United Kingdom after a prolonged illness.
Oladunjoye, a native of Ijebu-Itele in Ijebu East Local Government Area, had been receiving treatment abroad before succumbing to his health challenges. His family confirmed the heartbreaking news in a statement on Friday, April 4, 2025.
“It is with deep sorrow and total submission to the divine will of Almighty Allah that we announce the passing of our beloved father, husband, brother, and esteemed leader, Alhaji Abdulraheem Olatunde Ayinde Oladunjoye,” the statement read. The family noted that details of his burial would be announced in due course.
Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, expressed deep sorrow over the loss, describing it as a monumental blow to the APC and the state.
“Receiving the news of the departure of our gallant, highly resourceful, uncommonly cerebral and hard-working party spokesman and consultant, Tunde Oladunjoye, was devastating for me. This is tragic news that is frankly difficult to fathom,” Governor Abiodun said.
He praised Oladunjoye’s unwavering dedication, describing him as a dynamic and principled politician who passionately defended the administration’s programmes and policies.
“Oladunjoye never believed in half measures. He defended the programmes, policies, and image of the Ogun State government with uncommon dedication. He was an effective and accomplished spokesman whose brilliance was never in doubt,” the governor added.
Calling him “the voice of courage” and “the best spokesman Ogun APC has ever produced,” Governor Abiodun emphasized the legacy of loyalty, resilience, and service Oladunjoye left behind.
Prior to his role as APC spokesman, Oladunjoye served as Chairman of Ijebu East Local Government. His political career and contributions to the party have left a lasting imprint.
Condolences have continued to pour in from party members, friends, and political associates, all remembering Oladunjoye as a dedicated public servant and a true patriot.
