Afrobeats star Tiwa Savage has unveiled the Tiwa Savage Music Foundation, an initiative designed to discover, train, and support emerging African music talents.
The foundation was officially launched on March 9, 2026, at The Delborough Lagos. According to the singer, the programme will provide training across several areas of the music ecosystem, including film scoring, music publishing, music therapy, music production and sound engineering.
Savage explained that the initiative was created to help talented young Africans gain access to professional training and industry opportunities.
The foundation’s first programme will be organised in partnership with Berklee College of Music. Under the arrangement, 100 African creatives will be selected for a four-day intensive training programme scheduled to hold in Lagos from April 23 to 26, 2026.
Participants will receive practical training in songwriting, live performance, music production and the business aspects of the music industry. The training programme will be offered free of charge.
Savage said the initiative seeks to bridge the gap between raw talent and access to infrastructure, education and global exposure.
She noted that while Nigeria and Africa possess abundant talent, many creatives lack the necessary resources and platforms to develop their skills and connect with the global music industry.
According to her, the foundation will select 100 participants for the training programme, with a number of outstanding participants to be awarded full scholarships to study at Berklee College of Music, including accommodation support.
Savage also encouraged aspiring creatives across the continent to apply for the opportunity and prepare themselves for future editions if they are not selected in the first cohort.
She emphasised the importance of collaboration and partnerships in sustaining the foundation’s work, noting that initiatives of this nature require strong institutional and financial support.
The launch event attracted several prominent figures from the entertainment, business and political sectors. Among those in attendance were media entrepreneur Mo Abudu, talent manager Bose Ogulu, television personality Toke Makinwa, musicians Darey Art Alade and Johnny Drille, as well as entrepreneur Shade Okoya and cleric Bolaji Idowu.
