The Theatre Commander, Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, has urged troops of the 29 Task Force Brigade to remain vigilant, resilient, and uncompromising in their operations against terrorists and criminal elements within their area of responsibility.
Maj Gen Abubakar gave the charge during an operational assessment visit to key formations under the Brigade, including the 154 Task Force Battalion in Ngamdu, 156 Task Force Battalion in Mainok, 273 Task Force Battalion in Jakana, and the Brigade Headquarters in Benisheikh.
According to a statement issued by Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer of OPHK, the Theatre Commander emphasized that the visit was aimed at evaluating combat readiness, ensuring the judicious use of platforms and equipment deployed in the theatre, and appraising the impact of the Chief of Army Staff’s intervention in ongoing operations.
Commending the gallantry of the troops, Maj Gen Abubakar reminded them of the importance of avoiding complacency and maintaining an aggressive posture to deny terrorists freedom of action. He also stressed the need for close supervision, effective coordination, and prioritization of troops’ welfare, particularly in the area of feeding standards.
During an interactive session, the troops highlighted some operational challenges. In response, the Theatre Commander assured them of immediate intervention on certain issues while pledging to escalate others to the military high command for prompt action.
Briefing the Theatre Commander, Commander 29 Task Force Brigade, Brigadier General Oseni Braimah, alongside commanding officers of the units visited, outlined measures currently in place to consolidate operational successes and dominate the area of responsibility. The field commanders also reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining operational momentum and protecting lives and property within their respective jurisdictions.
The assessment visit was attended by formation commanders, senior staff officers from the Theatre Headquarters, and the Commander Sector 2, Brigadier General Beyidi Martins.
