Abuja | Media360Impact Report
TAAG Angola Airlines has successfully operated its inaugural commercial passenger flight to Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, marking a significant step in its drive to expand its African route network and strengthen regional connectivity.

The newly introduced Luanda Abidjan route will run three times weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays providing travelers with more flexible and reliable connections between the two West African destinations.

Flights on the route will primarily be operated using the Airbus A220-300 aircraft, which accommodates up to 137 passengers and is designed to deliver high efficiency, comfort, and performance for regional travel across Africa.

According to the airline, the new service aligns with its broader expansion strategy aimed at deepening its presence in key African markets while positioning Angola as a central aviation hub. A key part of this vision is the newly developed Dr. António Agostinho Neto International Airport in Luanda, which is expected to serve as a strategic gateway connecting Africa with Europe, South America, and beyond.

The route also adopts a multipoint connectivity model, enabling passengers traveling from Abidjan to seamlessly connect to TAAG’s wider international network through Luanda.

Beyond passenger travel, the airline noted that the route will also support air cargo operations, facilitating trade and strengthening economic ties between Angola and Côte d’Ivoire.

To commemorate the milestone, a ceremonial event was held at Félix Houphouët-Boigny International Airport in Abidjan, attended by government officials, aviation authorities, and industry stakeholders from both countries.
