The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Council, has extended warm Ramadan greetings to Muslim journalists, emphasizing the values of unity, compassion, and professional integrity during the holy month.
In a statement signed by the Council Secretary, Jide Oyekunle, the Council Chairman, Comrade Grace Ike, described Ramadan as a period for deep spiritual reflection and renewed commitment to truth, fairness, and responsible journalism.
“Ramadan is not just a time of fasting and prayer but also an opportunity to embrace gratitude, humility, and service,” she stated. “As journalists, we have a duty to inform with accuracy and integrity while fostering empathy and understanding in our communities.”

She underscored the significance of Ramadan in strengthening solidarity and urged journalists to remain steadfast in their ethical responsibilities despite challenges in the profession.
Beyond religious observance, Comrade Ike encouraged all journalists, regardless of faith, to use the season to reflect on their professional and personal growth while promoting harmony within the media landscape.
The NUJ FCT Council concluded the statement with prayers for peace, wisdom, and prosperity for Muslim faithful and their families, expressing hope that the spirit of Ramadan would inspire courage, kindness, and a renewed sense of purpose in all.
