Troops of the Joint Task Force North East (JTF NE), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have dealt a major blow to terrorists of the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP), neutralising eight fighters during a fierce encounter along the Baga Cross Kauwa Main Supply Route (MSR).

The incident occurred in the early hours of 15 September 2025, when troops came under ambush near Garin Giwa. The terrorists, who attempted to disrupt military operations in the axis, were met with superior firepower from the gallant troops.
During the firefight, eight ISWAP terrorists were eliminated, including two Munzirs and one Qaid. They were identified as Modu Dogo Munzir of Dogon Chukun, an unidentified Munzir, and *Abu Aisha Qaid of Tumbun Mota. Several others sustained gunshot injuries while fleeing the scene.

In the aftermath, troops recovered 14 motorcycles abandoned by the fleeing insurgents, a development that further weakens ISWAP’s mobility and logistics capability in the region.
Theatre Command has reaffirmed its commitment to eradicating terrorism in the North East and restoring lasting peace to affected communities. The military high command also commended the troops for their courage and charged them to sustain the momentum despite operational challenges.
