Abuja, Nigeria – August 14, 2025 — The Federal Government, through the National Orientation Agency (NOA), has unveiled a two-week nationwide civic engagement campaign aimed at deepening citizens’ knowledge of government policies, enhancing disaster preparedness, and strengthening national security awareness.
Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, NOA Director General Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu described the campaign as a “coordinated national awakening” designed to ignite a new spirit of patriotism, vigilance, unity, and responsibility among Nigerians.
“This is not just another campaign it is about our identity, safety, values, and development. Our democracy thrives only when citizens are informed and actively engaged,” Onilu said.
The campaign will run simultaneously across the 36 states, the FCT, and all 774 local government areas, engaging Nigerians at the grassroots level through market outreaches, school visits, motor parks, religious institutions, and community halls.

Five Core Focus Areas
- National enlightenment on government policies, programmes, and activities.
- Flood mitigation and disaster preparedness.
- National security awareness and cooperation with security agencies.
- Values reorientation for students, discouraging harmful practices.
- National identity and symbols promotion.
As part of the rollout, press conferences will be held in every state capital, while Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials in English and major Nigerian languages will be widely distributed. The effort will be complemented by daily radio, television, and social media campaigns, alongside toll-free lines and online feedback channels to ensure citizen participation.
Mallam Onilu urged Nigerians to actively support the initiative:
“This campaign will only succeed if you are part of it seek information from credible sources, prepare for emergencies, and work with security agencies to keep our communities safe.”
Over 4,000 NOA staff have been deployed nationwide to ensure comprehensive coverage and effective citizen engagement during the two-week drive.
There is no words to show our happiness to the federal government
