The agreement reflects a shared commitment to enhancing professional training, capacity development, and service delivery across both the meteorological and aviation sectors.
Under the MoU, the two institutions will collaborate on:
Utilising training facilities and providing advisory support for aviation programmes
Delivering specialised long- and short-term courses for NiMet personnel
Staff exchange programmes and joint training initiatives
Using NiMet’s Training School in Oshodi, Lagos, for ICAO-compliant aviation training
The partnership will focus on key professional areas including aviation operations and management, safety management systems, crisis management, aviation security, air navigation systems, and airport operations.

It also includes jointly organised diploma programmes in Aviation Meteorology.
Prof. Anosike emphasised NiMet’s commitment to continuous human capital development, noting that sustained investment in training, technical collaboration, and institutional partnerships is crucial to advancing operational excellence and supporting safe and efficient air navigation in Nigeria.
“Strengthening technical capacity and fostering collaboration between institutions is central to ensuring excellence in aviation and meteorological services,” he said.
