In a major blow to Boko Haram’s operational stronghold, troops of Operation HADIN KAI on May 11, 2025, launched a successful assault on Ladin Buttu, a key terrorist enclave within the Sambisa Forest. The offensive led to the elimination of five insurgents and the recovery of several weapons and military equipment.
The operation was disclosed in a statement signed by Captain Reuben Kovangiya, Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, Theatre Command Operation HADIN KAI. According to the statement, troops engaged Boko Haram fighters in a fierce gun battle, leveraging superior tactics and firepower to overpower the insurgents.
In addition to the five neutralized terrorists, soldiers recovered five loaded AK-47 rifle magazines and other military hardware. Blood trails found along nearby escape routes indicate that several insurgents sustained gunshot wounds while fleeing the scene.

Security experts identify Ladin Buttu as a critical logistics and transit hub for Boko Haram activities in the region. The army’s successful strike is therefore seen as a significant disruption to the group’s operational network.
Commending the troops for their bravery, the leadership of Operation HADIN KAI reiterated its commitment to executing the strategic directives of the Chief of Army Staff, which prioritizes proactive and aggressive offensives in the war against terrorism.
