Nigeria and Estonia have reaffirmed their commitment to deeper economic and technological collaboration, with plans to establish embassies and enhance business exchanges between both nations.
During a meeting in Abuja, Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, welcomed his Estonian counterpart, Minna-Liina Lind, emphasizing the need for a structured framework to boost private-sector partnerships, particularly in technology and startups.
“Our private sectors are already leading the way in collaboration. We are working to ensure an enabling environment for further engagement. Beyond that, Nigeria and Estonia share similar principled positions on global issues, and we look forward to establishing diplomatic missions to deepen our relations,” Tuggar stated.
Estonian Foreign Minister Minna-Liina Lind reiterated Estonia’s commitment to strengthening ties with Nigeria, highlighting her country’s expertise in digital governance.
“We recognize Nigeria’s vibrant startup ecosystem and the potential for deeper collaboration. As a European Union member, Estonia also sees opportunities for broader economic cooperation,” she said.
The discussion also covered trade delegations, with Estonian businesses planning visits to Nigeria. Estonia’s ride-hailing company, Bolt, has been operating in Lagos for years, and both nations are keen to expand trade and investment opportunities across multiple sectors.
