Nigeria is preparing to roll out a new phase in its fight against terrorism, with the revised National Counterterrorism Strategy (NACTEST) set for a presidential launch in October.
Officials say the updated framework is designed not only to strengthen national security but also to serve as a model for neighboring countries facing similar extremist threats.
The National Coordinator of the program stressed that Nigeria is increasingly being looked upon for leadership, coordination, and innovation in counterterrorism and countering violent extremism across West Africa.
Speaking at a policy session, the Director of Policy and Strategy revealed that after the official launch, stakeholders will reconvene to finalize an implementation plan, which will guide operations and shape Nigeria’s counterterrorism agenda in the coming years.
The meeting ended with a strong message of unity and shared responsibility. The National Counterterrorism Centre (NCTC) reaffirmed its commitment to providing leadership, coordination, and technical guidance in the fight against terrorism.
Both officials expressed optimism that the revised NACTEST will not only bolster Nigeria’s domestic security framework but also promote stronger regional and global cooperation in combating violent extremism.
