Ankara, Türkiye: Nigeria’s Minister of Women Affairs, Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, has affirmed that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is placing families at the heart of national development through strategic, family-focused reforms and policies aimed at protecting vulnerable populations and strengthening social cohesion.
Speaking at the ministerial session of the International Family Forum (IFF) in Türkiye, which brought together representatives from 26 countries, Sulaiman-Ibrahim emphasized that the Renewed Hope Agenda of the current administration is anchored on empowering the family unit as a cornerstone for sustainable development.
“Nigeria has placed families at the forefront of her national development through the Renewed Hope Agenda of the current administration, which is unprecedented,” the minister said.
According to a statement issued by her Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Jonathan Eze, the minister’s address coincided with the 2025 United Nations International Day of Families. This year’s theme — “Family-Oriented Policies for Sustainable Development: Towards the Second World Summit for Social Development” — underscores the growing international recognition of the family’s central role in achieving long-term progress.
Sulaiman-Ibrahim noted that Nigeria is tackling emerging challenges confronting families, including digital disruption, urbanization, economic pressures, humanitarian emergencies, and shifting societal values, by embracing transformative, inclusive, and protective policies.
