ABUJA – June 30, 2025 — The Federal Republic of Nigeria has extended warm felicitations to the Republic of Rwanda on the occasion of its Independence Anniversary, celebrating the nation’s enduring resilience and socio-economic progress.
This was contained in a statement signed Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa Spokesperson Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abuja on the 30th June, 2025
The statement reads: In a congratulatory message issued by the Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, to his Rwandan counterpart, His Excellency Olivier Nduhungirehe, Nigeria commended Rwanda’s remarkable transformation and steadfast commitment to peace and development.
“The anniversary of Rwanda’s independence represents a significant milestone in the country’s journey one that reflects the resilience, unity, and determination of the Rwandan people,” Ambassador Tuggar stated. He further lauded Rwanda’s achievements under the visionary leadership of President Paul Kagame, noting the nation’s growing influence in regional and international affairs.
Nigeria emphasized the importance of the strong bilateral ties shared with Rwanda, rooted in mutual respect and shared aspirations as members of the African Union and the Commonwealth of Nations. The statement reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to enhancing cooperation in key areas such as trade, technology, and sustainable development.

“As Rwanda celebrates this momentous occasion, Nigeria stands in solidarity with her government and people. We look forward to deepening collaboration that promotes peace, pan-African unity, and sustainable prosperity across the continent,” the Minister added.
