The Nigerian Army School of Public Relations and Information (NASPRI) has announced the introduction of artificial intelligence (AI) in its curriculum for information management and fact-checking, marking a significant advancement in its training programs. This initiative was revealed by the Acting Commandant of NASPRI, Lt Col. Adamu Ngulde, during the inauguration of the second quarter courses for 2025, held on Friday, April 11, at the Lt Gen Taoreed Lagbaja Auditorium, Muhammadu Buhari Cantonment, Giri, Abuja.
In his address to the newly inducted participants of the Strategic Communication Course, Lt Col. Ngulde emphasized the need to adapt to emerging trends in communication and technology. He noted that the integration of AI would enhance the participants’ ability to manage information effectively and verify facts in an era of widespread misinformation.
Lt Col Ngulde also announced NASPRI’s collaboration with the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, University of Abuja, and Professor Ishaq Oyebisi Oyefolahan, a research professor at the Africa Centre of Excellence on Technology Enhanced Learning (ACETEL). The partnership aims to deliver cutting-edge training that aligns with global standards in strategic communication.
Highlighting the relevance of the course, the acting commandant stated that strategic communication plays a vital role in aligning military narratives with national interests, shaping public perception, and countering disinformation during both peace and conflict.

Addressing students of the A1 Photojournalism and X3 Graphics Design and Printing courses, Lt Col Ngulde stressed the importance of visual storytelling in documenting military operations. He pointed out that effective use of photography and graphic design boosts public trust, morale, and the overall quality of military communication materials.
He assured all students that NASPRI is committed to providing comprehensive, high-quality training tailored to their specific course requirements. Lt. Col Ngulde expressed deep appreciation to the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Olufemi Oluyede, for his steadfast support to NASPRI and the Directorate of Army Public Relations. He also acknowledged the Commander TRADOC NA, Maj Gen Kelvin Aligbe, and the Chief of Training (Army), Maj Gen AS Ndalolo, for their continuous guidance throughout the training year.
Earlier in the event, the acting chief instructor of NASPRI, Maj Tonye Wenke, outlined the expectations for the second-quarter courses. He described the training as essential for career progression and national service delivery, urging students to approach the program with focus and discipline. He highlighted that the curriculum is designed to prepare participants for the demands of 5th Generation Warfare—centered around information dominance.
Maj Wenke also advised students to familiarize themselves with NASPRI’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and to maintain the highest standards of military discipline, noting that any form of misconduct would not be tolerated.
A total of 76 students have enrolled in the second quarter 2025 courses, including 16 senior officers in the Strategic Communication Course, alongside participants in the A1 Photojournalism and X3 Graphics Design and Printing courses.
