Abuja, Nigeria – His Royal Majesty, Prof. Bulus Luka Gadiga, the Mbege Ka Michika of Adamawa State, has commended the leadership of Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd), Chairman/CEO of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), while pledging his kingdom’s readiness to collaborate with the agency in tackling drug abuse and illicit trafficking.

This was contained in a statement siged by Femi Babafemi Director, Media & Advocacy NDLEA Headquarters, Abuja
on Monday, 10th November 2025

According to the statement, the royal commendation came on Monday, 10th November 2025, during a courtesy visit by the monarch and his council members to Marwa at the NDLEA National Headquarters in Abuja.

Prof. Gadiga highlighted Marwa’s long-standing contributions to the development of Michika, including infrastructure projects and scholarships, stating:
“We are here to appreciate all the support you have given us and to express our support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s agenda to eradicate illicit drugs, which you have been implementing effectively. Your efforts are visible to all, and we are grateful to God for the leadership qualities He has bestowed upon you, making you a household name not only in our kingdom but across Nigeria.”

He further emphasized the importance of community engagement, revealing that letters had been sent to churches and mosques within the kingdom urging residents to reject drug abuse and trafficking. He expressed willingness to deepen collaboration with the NDLEA in drug sensitization campaigns and law enforcement.

In his response, Marwa congratulated the monarch on his appointment to the exalted stool and expressed gratitude for being recognized as one of the first indigenes to receive a chieftaincy title. He also underscored the collective responsibility in combating drug abuse:
“The drug scourge affects every community, and we must all support ongoing efforts. We appreciate Your Majesty’s contributions in Michika, especially in providing logistics support to the NDLEA. Fighting illicit drugs requires the cooperation of government, traditional institutions, religious bodies, and communities alike. We urge the youth to avoid illicit drugs, which harm health, families, and society. We also hope Your Majesty will consider establishing a local drug control committee to liaise with us on a regular basis.”

The monarch’s entourage included Gen. Bitrus Kangye (rtd), Ambassador Ibrahim Mohammed Bashir, Dr. John Quaghe, and Halima Buba.
