Karimi’s Media Team Rejects Kabba-Bunu APC Vote of No Confidence, Lists Development Projects

The media team of Senator Sunday Steve Karimi, who represents Kogi West Senatorial District, has dismissed a communique reportedly issued by stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area expressing a vote of no confidence in the lawmaker.

In a statement released on Thursday, the team described the move as a politically motivated attempt to distract the senator from his legislative responsibilities and constituency development efforts.

The statement maintained that Senator Karimi remains a respected member of the APC at the local, state, and national levels and is committed to supporting the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the implementation of the Renewed Hope agenda.

According to the media team, the senator has undertaken several development initiatives in Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area, including educational support programmes, infrastructure projects, and social interventions aimed at improving the welfare of constituents.

Among the projects listed were the construction of classroom blocks in St. Barnabas College, Kabba; Community Secondary School, Odo Ape; and Government Secondary School, Iluke-Bunu. The statement also referenced a N5 million contribution to the construction of a local security base project initiated by the Kabba-Bunu Local Government Chairman.

The media team further highlighted a student bursary scheme under the Senator Karimi Foundation, which reportedly provided financial support of N100,000 each to 150 students from Kabba-Bunu in 2024. The programme was later expanded, with about 200 students receiving similar support during the 2025 edition disbursed in early 2026.

In addition, the statement noted that the senator funded the construction of the Pakuta Bridge, linking Kiri and other Bunnu communities, and facilitated the installation of solar-powered boreholes across the 15 wards in Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area.

Other interventions cited included the provision of transformers to several communities, the installation of solar-powered street lights, and support for local political structures during council elections in the state.

The media team also referenced the senator’s legislative effort to establish a Federal University of Agriculture in Kabba, noting that the bill has passed legislative stages and currently awaits presidential assent.

According to the statement, the senator has also supported political representation from Kabba-Bunu at the national level by facilitating the appointment of a legislative aide from the local government within the office of the Deputy Senate President.

While acknowledging the criticisms raised in the communique, the media team insisted that Senator Karimi remains focused on development initiatives and inclusive representation across the seven local government areas of Kogi West Senatorial District.

The statement urged party members and supporters to remain committed to unity and continued development in the district.
