The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) wishes to inform members of the public that it has not fixed or announced any date for the resumption of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR), including the transfer of voter registration and the replacement of lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
This clarification follows the circulation of an anonymous and misleading statement falsely claiming that the CVR and related services will commence on May 27, 2025. The Commission urges the public to disregard such false information, as it did not emanate from INEC.
This official clarification was issued on Sunday, May 4, 2025, via the Commission’s verified X (formerly Twitter) account @inecnigeria, and signed by Mr. Rotimi Oyekanmi, the Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman.
INEC assures the public that, in line with its tradition of transparency and open communication, it will publicly announce the date and full details of the resumption of CVR and other related services at the appropriate time. Such announcements will be disseminated through the Commission’s official website and verified social media platforms.
Members of the public are therefore advised to rely solely on official INEC channels for accurate and up-to-date information and to remain cautious of misinformation from unauthenticated sources.
