The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, has received the Executive Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas, on a courtesy visit to the Force Headquarters in Abuja, reaffirming a shared commitment to enhanced security collaboration and public safety across the state.

According to the statement, the meeting underscored the Nigeria Police Force’s resolve to deepen institutional partnerships with state governments as part of a broader strategy to address evolving security challenges and strengthen community-focused policing.

Governor Kefas was accompanied by a high-level delegation that included Senator Shuaibu Lau (Taraba North), Senator David Jimkuta (Taraba South), and Senator Haruna Manu (Taraba Central). Also present were members of the House of Representatives Hon. Abdullahi Mohammed Lauwa, Hon. David Abel, and Hon. Ayuba Zaku alongside the Taraba State Commissioners for Justice, Information, and Finance, among other officials.
During the engagement, Governor Kefas commended the leadership of the Inspector-General and praised the Nigeria Police Force for its intervention in restoring calm in Karim Lamido, an area recently designated by the Taraba State Government as a Special Area of Security Concern.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the Taraba State Police Command, particularly through the provision of logistics and resources aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and sustaining peace across the state.
In his response, IGP Egbetokun described the visit as a significant step toward strengthening strategic cooperation between the Police Force and the Taraba State Government.
He assured the Governor that security in Taraba remains a priority, pledging continued deployment of necessary assets and intelligence-led operations to protect lives and property, with particular attention to stabilising Karim Lamido and surrounding communities.
The Inspector-General further emphasized the importance of collaboration between security agencies and state authorities in achieving sustainable peace and building public confidence in law enforcement.

The Nigeria Police Force reiterated its commitment to working closely with state governments to ensure the safety, dignity, and well-being of all citizens, noting that the visit marks another milestone in collective efforts to reinforce Nigeria’s internal security framework.
