FRSC Strengthens Road Safety Ahead of Eid-el-Fitr with Tactical Deployment on Busy FCT Corridor

In a bold and proactive move to protect lives and restore order on one of the busiest transport corridors in the Federal Capital Territory, the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Shehu Mohammed, has ordered the immediate deployment of a high-level tactical team to the AYA–Nyanya Expressway following a series of alarming road traffic crashes along the route.

The team, under the leadership of Assistant Corps Marshal, Operations, Olusegun Ogungbemide, has been tasked with conducting a thorough, on-the-spot assessment to identify the factors contributing to the frequent accidents and recommend swift, evidence-based remedial actions.

This decisive intervention underscores the Corps Marshal’s commitment to proactive road safety management, intelligence-driven enforcement, and the protection of lives and property, rather than reacting to tragedies after they occur. FRSC leadership is taking anticipatory steps to identify systemic risks, eliminate hazards, and strengthen operational presence along critical transport routes.

The AYA–Nyanya corridor, a major gateway into the nation’s capital, demands strategic attention, and this deployment signals a zero-tolerance stance against preventable road crashes.

The initiative is also a key component of the ongoing Eid-el-Fitr Special Patrol operations, aimed at ensuring smoother traffic flow, reduced travel times, and safer journeys for millions of Nigerians during the festive period.

By integrating tactical investigations with intensified patrols, the Corps is reinforcing its dual approach of enforcement and prevention, delivering real-time solutions to emerging road safety challenges.

The Corps Marshal reiterated that road safety is a shared responsibility and called on all road users including drivers, commuters, and pedestrians to cooperate fully with the tactical team and adhere strictly to traffic regulations.
He assured the motoring public that the Corps will continue to evolve innovative strategies, deploy resources strategically, and respond swiftly to emerging threats to public safety.
