By Ameh Gabriel
In a move to enhance inter-agency cooperation and improve emergency response and road traffic management across Niger State, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has renewed its call for sustained collaboration with the Nigerian Army.
This was the focus of a courtesy visit by Corps Commander Aishat Saadu, Sector Commander, RS7.2 FRSC Niger State Command, Minna, to the Commander of the Training and Doctrine Command of the Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA), Major General Kevin Aligbe. The visit took place at the TRADOC headquarters within Minna Military Cantonment.
Corps Commander Saadu highlighted the importance of strengthening ties with the Nigerian Army, particularly in the areas of operational support, personnel training, and protection. She commended TRADOC’s unwavering assistance to the Corps and emphasized the need to deepen this synergy in the face of growing security and mobility challenges.
According to a statement issued by Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, TRADOC NA, the collaboration between the Army and FRSC has significantly bolstered the Corps’ capacity to fulfill its constitutional mandate.
Saadu expressed confidence that sustained partnership with TRADOC would further consolidate the gains made so far. She reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to ensuring road safety across Niger State and urged the military to continue providing vital support when needed.
In his remarks, Major General Aligbe congratulated Saadu on her appointment and described the visit as an important stakeholder engagement. He praised the FRSC for its crucial role in reducing road traffic incidents, promoting road discipline, and maintaining public safety.
Aligbe assured the FRSC of TRADOC’s continued support, particularly in capacity development through training programs, workshops, and joint initiatives that foster inter-agency synergy.
NIMC Calls for TRADOC’s Support in National Identity Drive
In a related development, the Territorial Director, North Central Zone of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Mr. James Mamza, also visited TRADOC headquarters to seek military cooperation in advancing the national identity enrolment exercise.
Mamza stressed the importance of enlisting military personnel and their families in the national identity database as part of broader efforts to enhance national planning, security, and development. He requested access to TRADOC facilities for on-site enrolment and urged TRADOC to mobilize the barracks community for full participation.
The NIMC director noted that the enrolment initiative aligns with federal preparations for the upcoming national population census and the government’s mandate for comprehensive identity coverage.
He also encouraged Army personnel to download and use the NINAUTH mobile app, available on the Play Store, to access digital national identity cards for convenient verification and access to services nationwide.
In response, Major General Aligbe lauded the NIMC’s commitment to creating a unified and secure identity system for all Nigerians. He affirmed TRADOC’s willingness to support the initiative, including providing space and logistics for a harmonized enrolment center within the barracks.
Aligbe reiterated TRADOC’s role in national development and pledged continuous collaboration to advance identity management and other civil-military initiatives critical to national security.
The visit concluded with the exchange of souvenirs, signing of the visitors’ register, and group photographs to commemorate the dual engagements.
