The Federal Ministry of Education (FME) has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a safe and conducive environment for examinations across the country, following public concern over a viral video showing students writing an exam in an unsuitable setting.
This was contained in a statement issued on 24th May 2025 by Boriowo Folasade Director, Press and Public Relations Federal Ministry of Education
According to statement, the footage, which surfaced on social media, depicts an examination taking place in substandard conditions at Unity Secondary School in Asaba, Delta State, under the supervision of the State Ministry of Education.
Reacting to the development, the Minister of State for Education, Dr. Yusuf Tanko Sununu, described the situation as “totally unacceptable” and assured Nigerians that appropriate measures will be taken to prevent a recurrence.
The Ministry is currently working closely with the Delta State Government and the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and to take necessary corrective action. The findings of the investigation will be made public in due course.
“The Ministry remains resolute in its commitment to providing the necessary infrastructure and ensuring that learners across Nigeria are given the best possible conditions for academic success,” said Boriowo Folasade, Director of Press and Public Relations at the Ministry.
This effort aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes education as a key driver of national development.
