The Federal Ministry of Education has strongly condemned the disturbing incident at Complete Child Development College, Aule, Akure, Ondo State, where the Vice Principal, Mr. Rotifa, was reportedly assaulted by suspected thugs allegedly hired by the parents of a student caught engaging in examination malpractice during the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
In a statement signed on 3rd June 2025 by Boriowo Folasade Director, Press and Public Relations Federal Ministry of Education stating that the Ministry views this act as not only criminal but a direct attack on the sanctity of Nigeria’s education system and the integrity of national examinations.
We commend the swift intervention of the Executive Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, and the Ondo State Police Command, which led to the arrest of the suspects—including Mrs. Dorcas Asije and four accomplices. We urge that a thorough investigation be concluded promptly and that all those found culpable face full legal consequences, to serve as a deterrent to similar actions in the future.
Under the leadership of the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, the Ministry reaffirms its zero tolerance for examination malpractice, intimidation of school personnel, and any form of unethical conduct by students, parents, or guardians.
Students found guilty of cheating will face disciplinary actions in accordance with national examination regulations. Likewise, any parent or guardian who enables, supports, or engages in criminal behaviour that undermines educational integrity will be prosecuted under the law.
The Honourable Minister urges all school authorities to promptly report any threats, misconduct, or security concerns during examinations to law enforcement and relevant education bodies.
To further reinforce examination security and discipline, the Ministry continues to work closely with state ministries of education, security agencies, and examination bodies nationwide.
The Federal Ministry of Education stands in full solidarity with the management and staff of Complete Child Development College, and with all educational stakeholders committed to upholding the principles of discipline, integrity, and academic excellence.
