The Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria (ARCN) has welcomed a new Executive Secretary, Dr. Abubakar Adamu Dabban, who officially resumed duties on Monday, June 16, 2025, at the Council’s headquarters in Abuja.
During the official handing and taking over ceremony, Dr. Dabban emphasized the need for collective commitment from the management, staff, and stakeholders to drive agricultural research forward in Nigeria. He reiterated his dedication to building upon the existing achievements of the Council, stressing that his tenure is not about witch-hunting but about consolidating progress and delivering on the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“This is a new ARCN, and a new hope for Nigeria’s food security,” Dr. Dabban declared. He further charged the staff to work diligently and professionally, warning against sycophancy and urging all to focus on competence and results.
The former acting Executive Secretary, in his remarks, expressed confidence in Dr. Dabban’s leadership and pledged his full support to ensure a smooth transition and the continued realization of the Council’s goals under the Tinubu administration.
Also speaking, Dr. Shuaibu Madugu, Director of Planning, Research, and Statistics at ARCN, appreciated the contributions of the outgoing leadership and assured the new Executive Secretary of the staff’s cooperation. He urged Dr. Dabban to stand by his word to ignore sycophants and instead recognize and reward staff who are truly delivering on their responsibilities.

Hon. Adamu Suleiman Kpautagi, Senior Special Assistant to the Executive Secretary, was also present at the event.
With the appointment of Dr. Dabban, stakeholders across Nigeria’s agricultural research sector are optimistic about a new era of innovation, accountability, and food security advancement.
