Abuja, October 30, 2025 The Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has congratulated Prof. Idayat Bolanle Owolabi, a Nigerian-born scholar and University of Ibadan alumna, on her remarkable recognition by His Majesty, King Charles III.

Prof. Owolabi was recently conferred with the prestigious title of Commander of the British Empire (CBE) in the King’s Birthday Honours 2025, announced on October 10, 2025, for her exceptional contributions to the United Kingdom’s health sector.

In a statement issued in Abuja, Dabiri-Erewa described the honour as “a proud moment for Nigeria and the diaspora community,” noting that Prof. Owolabi’s professional excellence and dedication reflect the best of Nigerian talent on the global stage.

“Her success powerfully underscores the immense potential and brilliance that Nigerians bring to the global arena. We celebrate her as a shining example of integrity, professionalism, and patriotism,” Dabiri-Erewa stated.

She added that NiDCOM remains committed to celebrating and supporting Nigerians abroad whose achievements enhance the nation’s image and inspire others to strive for excellence.

Prof. Owolabi’s recognition by King Charles III stands as a testament to the contributions of Nigerians in diaspora who continue to make waves in medicine, education, technology, and other critical sectors across the world.
