ABUJA — Newly-appointed Force New Media Officer, CSP Aliyu Giwa, says Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has entrusted him with a sacred responsibility, pledging to justify the confidence reposed in him through dedicated service.
Giwa was appointed to the position on Sunday, March 8, as part of a broader communication restructuring within the Nigeria Police Force. The development also saw the appointment of DCP Anthony Placid as the new Force Public Relations Officer, replacing ACP Benjamin Hundeyin.
In an appreciation message shared on his X handle on Thursday, Giwa expressed deep gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police for selecting him for the role, describing the appointment as a moment of profound significance in his career.

“I have walked this path long enough to know that appointments do not make men — character does. But I will not pretend that this moment does not mean everything to me, because it does,” he wrote.
Addressing the IGP directly, Giwa said the responsibility entrusted to him would be treated with utmost seriousness.
“To the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, PSC(+), NPM, sir, you have placed something sacred in my hands, and I receive it with humility. I will spend every day of this appointment proving that you were right. Not for validation, but because Nigeria deserves nothing less than my absolute best.”
He also extended appreciation to his family, colleagues, and supporters for their encouragement and goodwill following the announcement.
“The work ahead is serious. The responsibility is immense. And I am ready,” Giwa added.
