The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has emphasized the critical role of quality training and professionalism in building a formidable Nigerian Army, during his first operational visit to the Depot Nigerian Army (NA) in Osogbo.
During his address to officers, instructors, and other personnel, the Army Chief charged them to maintain the highest standards of discipline and dedication in the training of new recruits.
“This institution is the backbone of our Army. The quality of soldiers we produce here reflects directly on our performance in the field,” General Oluyede declared. “We must train with a sense of purpose instilling discipline, competence, and pride in every recruit.”
He stressed that the strength of the military is rooted in the capability and character of its personnel, calling on instructors to approach their duties with passion, focus, and a commitment to capacity building.

The COAS also conducted an inspection of key training facilities and infrastructure at the Depot, assessing the operational environment and identifying areas requiring improvement. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to elevating the Army’s operational standards and assured continued investment in training and development.
Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Appolonia Anele, noted in a press statement that the visit represents a strategic move by the Army Chief to strengthen military readiness through foundational training reforms and infrastructure enhancement.
