The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has charged Nigerian Army personnel to remain resolute, innovative, and proactive in the face of persistent insurgent threats and evolving operational challenges across the country.
Speaking during the 2025 Bi-Annual Army Conference held at the Command Guest House, Maimalari Cantonment, Maiduguri, Borno State, the Army Chief emphasized that recent setbacks should not weaken troop morale but rather serve as a catalyst for renewed commitment, sacrifice, and strategic adaptation.

As a key highlight of the event, Lieutenant General Oluyede officially unveiled newly acquired Vanquish Armoured Tankers, which he later handed over to the Theatre Commander of Operation HADIN KAI, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar.
The state-of-the-art tanks are fitted with advanced features including night vision technology, run-flat tire capabilities enabling travel over 80 kilometers, enhanced suspension systems, and full 360-degree ballistic protection. Representing the manufacturers, Engr. Ishaku Duwa praised the tanks’ adaptability to Nigeria’s complex battlefield environments.
Declaring the conference open, the COAS said the three-day gathering would focus on sharpening strategic foresight, synchronizing operations, and deepening civil-military collaboration to improve national security outcomes.
“The terrorists continue to evolve, adopting new strategies to influence the battlespace,” Oluyede noted. “While we mourn the loss of our gallant officers who paid the supreme price, we must not allow their sacrifices to be in vain.”
Reaffirming the Nigerian Army’s commitment to both kinetic and non-kinetic strategies, the Army Chief aligned the force’s efforts with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda, aimed at achieving peace and sustainable development nationwide.
He further called for intensified cooperation among the Army, Navy, Air Force, and other security agencies, alongside enhanced engagement with government institutions at all levels.
Lieutenant General Oluyede also expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for his strategic guidance and steadfast support, describing it as vital to ongoing military successes. He extended gratitude to state governors, traditional rulers, the media, and citizens for their continued contributions to national security.
He urged conference participants to leverage the opportunity to strengthen inter-agency synergy and generate actionable solutions to combat terrorism, banditry, and all forms of insecurity.
