The Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla, has commenced a three-day working visit to the Kingdom of Denmark, aimed at deepening bilateral naval cooperation and enhancing collaborative efforts in maritime security.
The visit, which began on Monday, June 16, 2025, is at the invitation of the Royal Danish Navy and represents a significant step in strengthening Nigeria’s maritime partnerships with European allies.
On the first day, Vice Admiral Ogalla participated in a symbolic boat cruise led by the Admiral of the Danish Navy, Rear Admiral Søren Kjeldsen, in a display of camaraderie and naval tradition.
Accompanying the CNS were:
Dr. Elias Fatile, fdc, Nigeria’s Acting Ambassador to Sweden and the Nordic countries,
Rear Admiral Patrick Nwatu, Navy Secretary,
Brigadier General Manu, Nigeria’s Defence Adviser to the United Kingdom.
The visit also featured a series of high-level engagements, including:
Strategic talks with the Chief Executive Officer of Blue Denmark, a key maritime industry cluster in the region,

A policy-level meeting at the Centre for Security and Operations under the Danish Ministry of Defence.
These engagements focused on enhancing cooperation in areas such as maritime domain awareness, anti-piracy efforts, naval technology exchange, and capacity building.
Vice Admiral Ogalla’s visit underscores Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening its naval diplomacy and securing the Gulf of Guinea through sustained international partnerships and knowledge exchange.
The three-day tour is expected to culminate in formal agreements on joint training, maritime security collaboration, and naval modernization.
