The Chief of Defense Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, paid a courtesy visit to the Honorable Minister of State for Regional Development, His Excellency Alhaji Maigari Uba Ahmadu, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Abuja. The high-level engagement aimed to deepen civil-military collaboration and promote peace-driven regional development across the country.

During the visit, General Musa underscored the critical link between peace and progress, noting, “Communities with more development often enjoy more peace.” He reiterated the Armed Forces of Nigeria’s (AFN) unwavering support for the Ministry’s regional initiatives, highlighting the military’s readiness to contribute meaningfully to national stability and economic growth.

The CDS also expressed appreciation to the Ministry for its continued assistance, especially in the training of AFN Special Forces. He emphasized that such support plays a vital role in enhancing the military’s operational capacity and overall national security.
Reassuring the Ministry of ongoing collaboration, General Musa pledged the Defence Headquarters’ sustained backing to ensure the Ministry delivers effectively on its constitutional mandate.
In his response, the Honourable Minister of State, Alhaji Maigari Uba Ahmadu, warmly welcomed General Musa and described the visit as historic. He commended the Armed Forces for their tireless efforts in safeguarding Nigeria’s unity and territorial integrity, particularly in the face of complex security threats.

The Minister also paid glowing tribute to fallen heroes who laid down their lives in defence of the nation. He applauded the military’s humanitarian and educational initiatives, including the establishment of schools for children of repentant insurgents describing them as strategic steps toward sustainable peacebuilding.
Alhaji Uba Ahmadu expressed strong confidence in the capability of the Nigerian military to decisively overcome the country’s security challenges and pledged continued support from the Ministry.
