
The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, attended the opening ceremony of the Special Operations Forces Training in Kaduna yesterday. During the event, he reaffirmed the Defence Headquarters’ (DHQ) unwavering support for the training school and urged the trainees to remain committed to achieving the program’s objectives.
Speaking at the ceremony, General Musa emphasized that the training goes beyond equipping Special Operations Forces with tactical skills it is an investment in national security and stability.
“This ceremony is not just about training our forces but about fostering excellence, resilience, and adaptability in the face of evolving security challenges,” he stated.
He further highlighted the significance of the program, describing it as a milestone in the nation’s commitment to strengthening its defense capabilities. Given the complexities of modern warfare, he stressed the need for a well-trained and well-equipped military force capable of responding swiftly to security threats.
Expressing confidence in the Special Operations Forces, General Musa underscored their crucial role in countering terrorism, insurgency, and other security threats. He commended the Ministry of Defence for its efforts in making the training a success.
Notably, around 800 personnel of the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) are participating in the training, which the CDS described as a transformative step in shaping the nation’s defense strategy.
“These gallant men are the vanguards of a new chapter in our defense narrative,” he remarked.
CDS Pledges Security for Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia
In a related development, General Musa visited the site of the newly established Federal University of Applied Sciences in Kachia. He assured stakeholders of enhanced security to facilitate the school’s smooth takeoff in line with the presidential directive for its commencement in September 2025.
