The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has dismissed the petition seeking to recall Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central Senatorial District, citing failure to meet constitutional requirements.
In a statement posted on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Thursday, INEC clarified:

“The petition for the recall of the Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District has not met the requirement of Section 69(a) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended).”
The commission assured the public that a more detailed statement on the matter would be released soon.
This decision marks a significant setback for proponents of the recall process, who had been pushing for Akpoti-Uduaghan’s removal amid rising political tensions in Kogi Central. With INEC’s ruling, the move to unseat the senator appears to have stalled.
