Connected Development (CODE) has announced the appointment of Kunle Babs as its new Chief Consultant for Global Communications and Advocacy, marking a significant step in strengthening the organization’s global media presence and advocacy impact.
Kunle Babs is a seasoned Video Journalist, Multimedia Producer, and Strategic Communications Specialist with nearly 15 years of international experience. He has worked with top-tier global media outlets such as Agence France-Presse (AFP), China Global Television Network (CGTN), France 24, Channel News Asia (CNA), Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), DD India, and Deutsche Welle (DW).
A familiar face at CODE, Kunle previously collaborated with the organization as a media trainer and content producer. Notably, he was instrumental in producing powerful documentaries that amplified CODE’s Follow The Money healthcare campaign, including DW’s award-winning feature Fighting Eco-Corruption in Nigeria. He also served as a member of CODE’s international observation team during the 2024 U.S. presidential election.
In his new role, Kunle will oversee CODE’s global communications strategy, lead media relations, design high-impact advocacy campaigns, and elevate the organization’s brand visibility across Africa and on the international stage.
Hamzat Lawal, Chief Executive of CODE, welcomed the appointment with enthusiasm:
“We are thrilled to officially bring Kunle on board. His unmatched storytelling expertise, creativity, and commitment to social impact align perfectly with our mission. I’ve worked closely with Kunle for nearly a decade and can attest to his passion, professionalism, and integrity. His ability to give voice to the voiceless is exactly what CODE stands for.”
Beyond his technical credentials, Lawal emphasized Kunle’s deep understanding of CODE’s mission:
“He doesn’t just tell stories — he tells stories that matter. Stories that move people to act. That’s the kind of leadership we need.”
Kunle holds a Bachelor’s degree in English and a postgraduate diploma in Filmmaking and Television Production and is currently pursuing an MBA in Media Leadership at the University of Cumbria, UK.
Speaking on his appointment, Kunle expressed his excitement about the new role:
“It’s an honor to join Connected Development and contribute to its mission of empowering marginalized communities through storytelling and innovation. I look forward to collaborating with the passionate team at CODE to amplify voices, drive advocacy, and expand the organization’s influence globally.”
With this appointment, CODE reaffirms its commitment to scaling impact through powerful communication, strategic advocacy, and inclusive development.
