In a decisive move against cybercrime and cult-related activities, troops of the 63 Brigade Nigerian Army and Sector 1 Joint Task Force, Operation Delta Safe, have arrested 183 suspected internet fraudsters during a coordinated raid in Warri, Delta State.
The operation, which took place on July 19, 2025, was based on credible intelligence about the activities of the syndicate operating within the area.
According to a press statement signed by Captain Iliyasu Bawa Rijau, the arrested suspects ranging in age from 16 to 29—were all male and were apprehended in residential apartments allegedly used as a training hub for internet fraud.
Items recovered during the operation include:
274 assorted laptops
87 mobile phones
9 laptop chargers
1 table phone
2 WiFi devices
Captain Rijau noted that both the suspects and the recovered items are currently undergoing preliminary investigation. He emphasized the Nigerian Army’s unwavering commitment to eradicating cybercrime and other forms of criminality threatening the region’s stability.
In a separate but related operation, troops also apprehended a suspected cultist identified as Mr. Igbe Lucky Chika, aged 26, at Ezionun Community in Delta State.
Items recovered from the suspect include:
A locally made firearm
An axe
A cutlass
Two mobile phones
A Toyota Camry (Registration number: Delta ASB 41 BE)
Commander of 63 Brigade, Brigadier General M.A. Shonibare, commended the troops for their swift action and urged residents to continue supporting security agencies in the ongoing efforts to maintain peace and order across the region.
