The Federal Ministry of Education has reiterated its zero tolerance for examination malpractice, describing it as a persistent menace that undermines the credibility of academic qualifications and threatens the future of Nigeria’s human capital development.
In a statement released and signed on Monday, May 26, 2025, by Boriowo Folasade Director, Press and Public Relations For: The Honorable Minister of Education, stating that the Ministry emphasized its firm resolve to eradicate the practice in alignment with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.
“The Ministry will not relent in its efforts to sanitize the examination process,” the statement read. “We are committed to restoring integrity in our education system and ensuring that merit and competence are rewarded.”
To this end, the Ministry has announced plans to intensify collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services (DSS), and other relevant law enforcement bodies to identify and prosecute perpetrators of examination malpractice. Legal actions will be taken in accordance with the Examination Malpractice Act of 1999 and other applicable regulations.

The Ministry also issued a call to action to all stakeholders including students, parents, teachers, school heads, and members of the public to support the fight against this endemic problem.
“We urge everyone to report incidents of malpractice to the appropriate authorities. Upholding the sanctity of examinations is a shared responsibility,” the statement continued. “Our students deserve a system that fosters integrity and prepares them for global competitiveness.”
The Ministry concluded by reaffirming its commitment to building an education system rooted in fairness, excellence, and accountability.
