An 18-year-old apprentice in Anambra State has reportedly impregnated 10 girls within five months, including his master’s daughter and a salesgirl working in the same shop.
The shocking revelation was made by the Anambra State Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Ify Obinabo, during a live social media broadcast on Wednesday. According to Obinabo, the apprentice was sent to learn a trade but within just three months, he allegedly impregnated both his master’s daughter and a salesgirl, leading to his immediate dismissal from the apprenticeship.
The situation reportedly escalated after his return to his village, where he allegedly impregnated eight more girls within two months.
Expressing her concern, Commissioner Obinabo narrated how the boy’s mother visited her office to seek help. “According to her, anytime she sees a girl coming towards their house now, her heart skips because she’s afraid of what might happen,” Obinabo shared.
The Commissioner further disclosed that during a confrontation with the boy, she asked how he managed to lure the girls. He reportedly claimed that he would express love and promise them marriage once he became successful.
Describing the situation as disturbing and beyond what her office alone could manage, Obinabo called for public advice, hinting that the matter might have a spiritual dimension.
Although the identities of the boy, his mother, and their community remain undisclosed, Obinabo appealed for community support and ideas on how best to address the situation.
