If you need to correct or update your NIN information, here’s a breakdown of how the NIMC self-service portal works.
Step 1: Register
Visit the official NIMC self-service modification portal.
Log in using your NIN and complete a face capture verification in a well-lit area to confirm your identity.
⚠️ Use only one device and one browser throughout the process to avoid your account being locked.
Step 2: Select the Update Type
You can modify:
Name
Address
Phone Number (₦2,000)
Date of Birth (₦28,574)
Ensure you select the correct field before proceeding.
Step 3: Upload Supporting Documents
Depending on your request, you may need to upload:
Sworn affidavit
National Population Commission certificate
Police report
Documents must be clear, scanned in high resolution, and saved in accepted formats such as PDF or JPEG.
Step 4: Pay and Submit
Make payment using a debit card or via Remita.
After submission:
You will receive a tracking ID
Upon approval, your updated NIN slip will be sent to your email
Why This Is Important
Your NIN is linked to:
SIM registration
Bank accounts
Passport applications
Government services
Errors in your details can cause delays in accessing essential services.
The online modification system reduces the need for physical visits and long queues at NIMC offices.
However, applicants should carefully review their documents before submission to avoid rejection or additional fees.
