📍 Abuja The Federal Government has issued a security advisory to Nigerians residing in the Islamic Republic of Iran and neighbouring Gulf countries following rising military tensions in the Middle East.
In a statement by signed by Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, Spokesperson, Ministry of Foreign Affairs stating that the government said it is closely monitoring the evolving situation, including reported military actions involving Israel and the United States, as well as subsequent retaliatory responses by Iran affecting parts of the Gulf region.The Ministry noted that the situation remains volatile and could escalate further.
The advisory outlines precautionary steps for Nigerians currently in Iran and Gulf countries, including Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia.

Among the directives:
Maintain heightened vigilance at all times
Avoid strategic, military, or government locations
Restrict non-essential movement
Avoid large gatherings and demonstrations
Comply strictly with local security directives
Rely on verified information sources
The Ministry also urged Nigerians to stay in contact with the Nigerian Embassy in Tehran and relevant diplomatic missions in affected Gulf states for consular assistance.
Call for De-escalation
Beyond the advisory, the Nigerian government called on all parties involved in the conflict to pursue dialogue and return to negotiations in the interest of global peace and coexistence.
The Ministry reaffirmed that the safety and well-being of Nigerian citizens abroad remains a top priority.
