
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has once again demonstrated its commitment to public safety and emergency response as its rescue operatives swiftly deployed to join forces with the Fire Service and other emergency responders to combat a burning gas truck at Otedola Bridge on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

Headquarters, Abuja stating that the incident, which occurred on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, posed a significant threat to lives and property before emergency responders arrived to cordon off the area and evacuate affected persons, preventing further damage.
According to reports received by the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, the multiple-vehicle crash involved 11 people, all male adults. Out of the 15 vehicles affected, five individuals sustained injuries, while two lost their lives. Preliminary investigations indicate that the crash was caused by a mechanical failure, specifically brake failure.
Expressing his displeasure over the preventable nature of the incident, the Corps Marshal called on fleet managers and transport operators to prioritize safety precautions in managing their vehicles. He reiterated that the FRSC would continue to enforce strict compliance with safety protocols for transporting dangerous goods, warning that sanctions would be imposed on any drivers and vehicle owners who compromise road safety, as stipulated in the National Road Traffic Regulations.
He further assured the public that FRSC remains committed to ensuring road safety and will continue to deploy resources and expertise to respond promptly to emergency situations.
